Making sure
you never walk alone…
Keeping Arizonans safe is the primary focus of ADCRR (Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry). Since the early Arizona Territorial days, corrections officers have faced very dangerous convicts and they still do today. Though a lot has changed since the Yuma Territorial Prison opened in 1875 a lot remains the same. In addition to the dangers presented by inmates, today’s corrections officers face many other job hazards such as the threat of complaints, civil lawsuits, and even criminal indictments for performing their jobs.
And just as the early territorial corrections officers had each other’s back, the ACA (Arizona Corrections Association) has the back of today’s professional corrections officer.
We provide the best criminal/civil legal coverage for job performance through PORAC and the best administrative legal assistance for 601s (admininstrative investigations) through the law firm of Napier, Baillie, Wilson Bacon & Tallone P.C.. The ACA is there for you.
The ACA also provides you with a voice to the ADCRR administration and the Arizona State Legislature. We work with the Director and his administration to solve issues in the workplace. We also lobby hard, through our membership in the APA (Arizona Police Association), for pay and benefits for ADCRR employees.
But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to provide that direction and strength through unity. If you’re not a member, consider joining and help us make a difference!
Over 145 years of service to Arizona...
On February 18, 1876 a ceremony was held on Prison Hill which celebrated the laying of the cornerstone. On July 1, 1876 seven convicts were led up to Prison Hill and were placed in the quarters they helped build. Between the years of 1875 and 1909 the Yuma Territorial Prison held some of the most notorious desperados of the old southwest.
